What is Bocouture?
At IJAB, we use the muscle relaxing injectable Bocouture, for the temporary improvement in the appearance of upper facial lines. The active ingredient in Bocouture is Botulinum toxin type A. After injection, this active ingredient blocks the nerve signals that cause the muscles to contract when we frown. As Bocouture relaxes the injected muscle, less muscle movement occurs, which means that the upper facial lines will soften and become less noticeable.
What happens during the consultation?
You will be asked about your medical history, whether you are currently taking any medicines and whether you have had any facial treatments in the past. You will also be asked what expectations you have of the treatment.
How is the treatment carried out?
After evaluating your upper facial lines, your skin will be cleansed and the Bocouture will be injected into the treatment areas using a very fine needle.
What should I do after the treatment?
A full list of do's and don'ts are included in the post procedure information leaflet.
When will I see the results?
People can respond differently to treatment. Depending on the facial indication treated, some people start to see an effect within two to three days (some may take longer) with the effect lasting three to four months after the injection. The treatment effect gradually wears off, so repeated treatments may be needed to maintain the effect.
In 2016, Bocouture was granted a licence in the UK from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for the "treatment of upper facial lines, including horizontal forehead lines, crow's feet lines and glabellar frown lines".
Bocouture is the only neurotoxin to have a licence for all 3 areas of upper face lines.
